Laguna Vista Volunteer Fire & Rescue started out in 1986 as Laguna Vista Volunteer Fire Department, sharing a building with the Laguna Vista Community Center at 541 Shroyer Drive. The center was built on land donated by the Shroyers, with thousands of dollars donated from the original landowners in the area.
